CBD accelerates cellular turnover in the epidermis, promoting enzyme, fillagrin and ceramide production – all of which are important for a healthy skin. At this concentration of CBD, genes are up and down-regulated (over 500 genes are affected!). Examples :

Up-regulation in fibroblasts enhances the production of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and fibronectin
In sebocytes, lipid synthesis is either up- or down-regulated
In melanocytes, melanin production is down-regulated
Inflammation markers are down-regulated

With added neuro-peptide, N-Acetyl-Tyrosyl-Arginyl-Hexadecyl Ester – based on the Tyr-Arg peptide that occurs naturally in the body. This dipeptide was discovered by Japanese scientists at the University of Kyoto, and named kyotorphin because of its morphine- (or endorphin-) like analgesic activity. It works synergistically with CBD and:

stimulates the release of pro-endorphins (ß-endorphin and met-enkephalin), providing an exhilarating effect in the skin
relaxes and inhibits muscle contractions responsible for the appearance of expression wrinkles
reduces tactile and thermal sensitivity in the skin, especially post-procedure
reduces skin sensitivity to external factors such as chemical irritants.

Use once or twice a day, or as directed by your skincare professional. Apply over clean skin and on top of other serums. Compatible with other OptoDerm Serums and Creams.

Q. Is CBD legal and will it make me high?
A. It is legal, since CBD is a cannabinoid with no psychoactive activity. It will not make you high.

Q. What is the endocannabinoid system?
A. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system composed of endocannabinoids, which are endogenous lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors, and cannabinoid receptor proteins that are expressed throughout the mammalian central nervous system (including the brain and peripheral nervous system).

Q. Does the ECS exist in human skin?
A. Yes, in all cell types and especially the keratinocytes of the epidermis, which are responsible for the production of essential enzymes, filaggrin and ceramides necessary for a healthy skin barrier and good hydration.

Q. Does it work for psoriasis?
A. We do not make medical claims but CBD is implicated in controlling production of the inflammatory cytokines that result from an over-active immune system.

This is a very underrated serum. I started using this product last week – and noticed an accelerated improvement in hydration and skin texture, combined with the CBD cream. Great power duo!
