OptoDerm’s Phytic Acid Peel has a pH of 0.5 and contains a combination of phytic acid (40%), mandelic acid (10%) and hibiscus extract (10%), all of which inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme, which is responsible for melanin production.
Phytic acid’s potent antioxidant properties protect the skin from oxidative stress to combat premature aging. As a chelating agent, it binds to metal ions, helping to protect the skin from environmental damages which often causes hyperpigmentation. Phytic acid also contributes to improved skin radiance and a more even complexion.
Mandelic acid soothes and calms the skin and supports collagen production. It has a larger molecular size compared to other AHAs like glycolic acid or lactic acid. This results in slower penetration, making the peel less irritating.
Hibiscus extract is also a powerful anti-aging ingredient with skin brightening properties.
