Lactic Acid Toner

Contains 7% lactic acid, buffered to pH3.6,  witch hazel extract, biomimetic factors (the same as our micellars) and amino acids (glycine and arginine).

Lactic Acid is natural and can be considered ‘the body’s own AHA‘, since it is exclusively produced by the metabolic conversion of glucose or glycogen in the body!

The anti-aging effects of lactic acid derive from its ability to stimulate exfoliation and cell renewal, moisturize, and increase dermal and epidermal thickness. Lactic acid stimulates exfoliation of the upper layers of the skin, the stratum corneum. It also stimulates cell renewal in the skin’s epidermis. Compared to glycolic acid, L-Lactic Acid was shown to be equally effective in stimulating cell renewal, but with a preferred therapeutic index (efficacy vs. potential irritation). Through exfoliation and stimulation of cell renewal in these layers, smoother, younger looking skin is revealed and the removal of skin pigmentation can be accelerated, promoting skin brightening and lightening. Additionally, lactic acid has been shown to increase the thickness of the epidermis and the dermis, resulting in firmer skin with reduced fine lines and wrinkles.

Lactic Toner combines lactic acid with amino acids, such as arginine, to produce amphoteric hydroxy acid complexes. These provide similar benefits to lactic acid, but with reduced potential irritation, making this toner more suitable for use on sensitive skin

The efficacy of any lactic acid formulation depends on lactic acid concentration and pH. With lower pH and higher lactic acid concentration, enhanced anti-aging effects can be achieved. The increase of the cell renewal rate with the concentration of lactic acid used in Lactic Toner is approximately 15%.

Lactic Toner is ideal for pre-peel preparation and conditioning too and is safe to use daily.

Contraindications

This product should not be used daily on extremely sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Please refer to additional sun protection note and other usage warnings.
